Attorneys travel near and far for depositions and examinations, and work up appetites along the way! We know its all business at the dep site, but afterward or on a break, you have to eat, so we say: “eat well!” With reporters in every county of Michigan, we’ve got some amazing restaurants to recommend.
Suttons Bay- This summer try Hearth & Vine, a Northern Michigan favorite of Chef Mario Batali. Located on an agricultural estate in Leelanau County, the cafe’s menu varies, but last year’s featured the freshest gazpacho, wood-fired vegetable wraps, and blueberry shortcake with homemade whipped cream and lavender syrup.
Cadillac- Try downtown favorite Blue Heron Café for fresh, local, and seasonal. They serve lunch, too, but don’t miss breakfast: try their amazing housemade granola loaded with Michigan dried cherries, or the Smoked Salmon Scrambler. Also stop in to the Clam Lake Beer Company for the Fish Tacos, a really good burger, or a brick-fired pizza.
Frankfort- The next time you’re in Frankfort, don’t miss The Fusion right on Main Street for Pan-Asian cuisine with American flair. Create your own stir-fry or bento-style lunch; or ask owners Va and Bobbiesee to recommend their favorite Chinese, Thai, or Japanese specialties. We recommend the Spring Rolls and the Blue Panang Curry!
Ferndale- The Fly Trap, featured on the popular TV show Diners Drive-ins & Dives, is a great place to get fresh, funky comfort food. Try the Red Chili Salmon Burger with ginger-lime aioli, or go for the Gingerbread Waffle.
Ann Arbor- Visit Zingerman’s in Kerrytown for the best deli sandwich you’ll ever eat, anywhere (sorry, New York City, its true!) Try their world famous Reuben and ask to have it piled high with The Brinery’s “Burke’s Sweet and Saur Kraut” (only available for a limited time!) Alternatively, head to downtown Ann Arbor proper for Turkish Brunch at Café Zola, or try one of their many crepe options (try the Nutella Banana with ice cream!) Zola is serious about brunch and serves it 7am until 4pm every day.
Grand Rapids- Marie Catrib’s in Easttown has something amazing for everyone, whether you’re gluten free, vegan, meat-loving, or just food-loving. The Trenton sandwich is a breakfast-lunch crossover to die for at any time of the day, featuring local bacon and eggs, and farmer’s market tomatoes and greens. Veg-heads try the Sweet Potato Quinoa Burger or We Got the Beet on Michigan’s best gluten-free bread made in-house.
Traverse City- After your deposition, pop downtown for a delicious lunch at one of Traverse City’s many amazing restaurants. For something light and healthy, visit the Om Café and get the Cremini Mushroom Burger and one of their daily fresh raw juices (we love their grapefruit basil juice.) Then head over to Poppycocks on Main Street for their Flourless Chocolate Hazelnut Torte!
YOUR HOMETOWN! – Prefer home-cooking or your favorite neighborhood haunt for a quick lunch? Don’t forget: with mobile video conferencing, there’s no need to travel if you don’t want to!
